Wonderful year for garlic, looking at it hanging in the garage now we think
it's the best ever. How has everyone else found it this year? -- Regards Bob In Runnymede, 17 miles West of London |

Mine, an ocean to the west, is looking really good, though harvest is perhaps a month away yet. I'm just now cutting the last of the scapes on the latest varieties. Still, it has grown well, and reached a good size in terms of above ground leaves. Its starting to look a bit tired, so I'll think about harvesting in a couple of weeks time. If I remeber, I'll let you know what the crops like. I'm in N.Wales, so would expect to be behind you. Sarah |

Did ours yesterday, it's OKish - badly hit by rust and because it was amongst other crops that badly needed watering it got irrigated when it *really* didn't need it so white rot is a slightly higher percentage than usual - still a very acceptable crop, much of which will dry and store well. Ours are brilliant too, despite developing a lot of rust over the past couple of weeks. Harvested them on Monday and they're now drying out in the garage. -- Neil Visit my Peak District walking website - www.peakwalking.co.uk |

Ours was hit by rust in the last few weeks, probably worse than usual, but it hasn't damaged the crop at all probably because it was too late in the growing season. I said it would be good when I saw the thickness of the stems months ago. Like you, we also have a touch of White Rot in the soil but we grew them on some ground that we haven't grown Alliums before so maybe that has helped. They were next to the onions and none of them have received any watering even in the very dry spell. -- Regards Bob In Runnymede, 17 miles West of London |

Have harvested it and left it on the grounf for last 3 days. Presumably better in a shady airy car port than the polytunnel? |

I tie it in bundles of 25 and hang in the shed with end door open. Mine has a few weeks to go.
