Default discoloured rose leaves

Apologies if this is a duplicated post but it didn't seem to appear the
first time!
My "city of London" roses are developing yellow leaves which are
dropping off. I have sprayed regularly with systhane and the leaves do
not have black spots.
Other varieties of roses in the same bed are unaffected.
I was wondering if it could be a iron or magnesium deficiency?
I have posted a pic if anyone can help
Thanks, Lisa

Lisa,

Looks like Rose Mosaic. What do you think?

Yes it does look like that Emrys and I've found some other pics too.
The discoloured leaves drop though, does the virus cause premature leaf
drop as well as the mosaic effect? Am I right in thinking that it will
not spread to other plants and that it's therefore OK to keep the
bushes? They flower well and are in the middle of the bed so the bare
stems are not too noticeable.
Thanks for your help

Lisa,

These very good sites tell you all you need to know about Rose Mosaic,
although I see no reference to leaf drop, but is quite evident that you
can keep your roses without fear of the disease (should it be rose
mosaic) spreading to your other roses.

Did you know that there is a rose forum at rec.garden.roses. It looks
quite good. You may think that you may gain by asking your question in
that forum. If you decide to do so I will follow developments.

Also if you go to www.goolge.com Groups search for: rose mosaic
you will find some interesting posts on the subject.

Incidentally, you do not say how long you have had the roses or where
you obtained them. I say that because it may be possible for you to
have them replaced free of charge and I would definitely consider that
possibility.

Regards,
Emrys Davies.

Thanks Emrys - I'd already googled for it and found conflicting
information regarding whether I should keep or discard the bushes and
whether it was infectious or not.
I bought the plants from Wych Cross rose nursery in Sussex 3 years ago,
the first year there were no problems and last year the problem showed
itself for the first time, but I thought it was black spot as I hadn't
sprayed (I think the bushes had a bit of that too). I might contact the
nursery and see what they say regarding this matter.
Thanks for your help

Lisa,

You have a reputable nursery there. Have you seen their 'The Copper
Bottomed Guarantee'. I wish you luck.
