Another Identification Please
Could one of you assist me in the identification of this Poppy, it is not
one of the larger ones, but the same size as the one we call the Welsh Poppy, however the foliage is different. The plant may be viewed at this link and the thumbnails can be enlarged as per the instructions. http://sendall1542.fotopic.net/c583728.html Many thanks Boseley |

Thanks for that, I have looked it up, the plant shown in the link the leaves are the same shape, but it appears to differ in height, this one only being 15" tall and the flower is only 1" in diameter. Will there be different varieties of the said opium poppy? Boseley |

The message
from "Boseley" contains these words: I agree, commonly known as the opium poppy. Thanks for that, I have looked it up, the plant shown in the link the leaves are the same shape, but it appears to differ in height, this one only being 15" tall and the flower is only 1" in diameter. Will there be different varieties of the said opium poppy? It depends very much on the soil. I've seen them growing on very poor soil, and they've been 'orrid and weedy, about four inches high and with a flower less than half an inch across. -- Rusty Open the creaking gate to make a horrid.squeak, then lower the foobar. http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/hi-fi/ |

writes Will there be different varieties of the said opium poppy? It comes in several colours, in single and double forms, and there's varieties with various forms of seed pod. Chiltern Seeds, for example, sell 17 varieties. -- Stewart Robert Hinsley |
