Let me guess, the journalist is about 23? ;-)
There was an article years ago which said something to the effect that
questionnaires issued to potential employees by one particular firm, asked
if they were interested in gardening. If they were, they were written off
as 'unambitious'. ;-)
It's interesting though, that many people become interested in gardening
later in life, having shown no interest before *and* that the journalist
calls it 'life switched off at the mains' when one considers that it's the
source of bodily and spiritual nourishment in so many ways!
