When is the best time to prune a Laurel bush? Sorry I don't know what
variety it is it's green :-))
Mine is about 4ft high but getting a bit out of shape I only planted it last
year and I want to try and keep it quite compact and no bigger than 6-7ft.

Cherry laurel? Prunus laurocerasus? Anyway, it doesn't matter much,
as the same applies to true laurel and Portugal laurel. Probably
best in spring, but most times will do - and now is perfectly good.
Use secateurs not shears from choice and otherwise do your worst;
it is very hard to harm those things.

Any time. Laurels are practically unkillable.

Check it for birds' nests first, otherwise leave it a couple more
weeks.
