OT - pheasant behaviour
We're watching a pair of pheasants on the front lawn. The cock is doing
his full mating display with very obvious passionate intent. The hen is looking really fed up as all she really wants to do is eat the grain I've put out. If she stops moving he tries to take advantage, but she just doesn't want to know. We had pheasants in the garden right through last autumn/winter, but never saw this behaviour as early as October - they waited until Spring had sprung. Do pheasants carry on like this all the year, and we've only just noticed it going on in our garden? Or, is this unseasonable behaviour? -- Susie Thompson, Isle of Arran SPAM BLOCK IN OPERATION! The pheasants round here (N Yorks) are pretty frisky now too. Regards, -- Martin Brown |

Does anybody make a living out of collecting and selling road kill game birds? I know someone who did pick up a Pheasant that he killed only by hitting it rather than going under the wheels or body. He said it was far too bruised to be worth eating. -- Cheers Dave. pam is missing e-mail |

It is obvious that the male is a normal sex mad, won't-take-no-for-an-answer,sort of chap who simply wants his female to starve herself into a fashionably thin shape and give him sex on demand :0p |
