Ride on mowers aren't that easy to manoeuvre so, with a garden that small I think you would be wasting your money. Buy a nice powerful, wide petrol one that you just have to follow and guide at the corners!!!!! -- Jane Ransom in Lancaster. Good machine, works well. Had mine since the Spring. Could it be that the person is less able bodied than yourself? That being the case, cutting the Tennis Court sized lawn with a ride on mower would be a good idea, No? If you aren't fussy about buying new, check out the freeads for second-hand machines. I bought a second-hand Westwood 1200 for £300 and a tipper trailer to go behind it for £50. The Westwood has a tight turning circle and has proved very reliable. The trailer has been a godsend - it happily takes four 160litre bags of compost, horse muck, top-soil, breeze-blocks....oh the back-ache it's saved! The cutting head is underslung but removes in a minute or so by undoing two clips and spinning off the drive belt. |

Having a ride on lawnmower and using it regularly, I know the problems associated with handling it - and a tennis court isn't *that* big!!! If I were not able bodied, I would not be able to manoeuvre it at all, let alone mow the grass with it ( And I think advice to someone not to spend money unwisely is sound as well !!!! -- Jane Ransom in Lancaster. Hello P&J PJ Any recommendations - my garden is about the size of a PJ tennis court so it doesn't need to be mega powerfull. Snipped The trailer has been a godsend - it happily takes four 160litre bags of compost, horse muck, top-soil, breeze-blocks....oh the back-ache it's saved! The cutting head is underslung but removes in a minute or so by undoing two clips and spinning off the drive belt. I agree about the trailer it's extremely useful. one point to note is that if you do go and buy a ride on almost all (not Husquvarna) the cheaper ones sold by B& Q etc and many garden centres are made by Murray of America, certainly this applies to Hayter, Mountfield Sovereign. And yes they aren't very manouverable, I have often had problems dodging trees in my garden... The Q But I still wouldn't be with out it.. |
