Blight (was tomatoes and BM)
Mention has been made of blight and weather conditions on toms/BM
thread. AIUI it's _humidity_ and temperature raher than rain that brings blight. Something called a 'Smith period' is declared when the temp. and hum. are right for blight for a couple of days. For those who want to know when best to apply BM then visit www.potatocrop.com and see the blight watch section. you can register to receive email and text message alerts for your area: it's designed for commercial growers but doesn't throw a wobbly when you tell it you're growing 0.001 acres of potatoes! -- Derek Turner Outlook Express is worth precisely what you paid for it. -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 80,000 Newsgroups - 16 Different Servers! =----- |

A Near Miss occurs when: One or both of the above two consecutive days has only 10 hours when the relative humidity is greater than 90%. \quote from www.potatocrop.com -- Derek Turner Outlook Express is worth precisely what you paid for it. -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 80,000 Newsgroups - 16 Different Servers! =----- |
