Default splitting tomatoes

lovely crop of fruit only spoilt by some skins splitting before ripening,
must be doing something wrong but what? TIA for any help.

It could be that after a period of drought for the plants, they are then
getting a lot of water suddenly. This can often cause the fruits to
split. They need to watered on a regular basis and not allowed to dryout.
