I don't think so. I once spilt some Growmore from a sack I was loading
to take down to my allotment. I swept it up and threw it around some
sad old roses in my neighbours garden (I was tending it for them), I
could not believe the growth and flower that year, seemed different
plants.

If you or a neighbour has a wood-burning stove the ash contains useful
levels of potassium, and it's free. Roses won't mind a slightly higher
pH from using the ashes. More info he
