Bought a couple of growbags in the garden centre today, but
they were near the bottom of the pallet, so they are very very
flat and compressed.

Has any one got a nice easy method of breaking them up, pumping
them up, and keeping the compost evenly distributed through the
bag?

Drop them sideways. Bang them on the ground long edge down a few times
then do the same on the other long edge.
