Bleeding hydrangea!
I needed to cut back a newly bought hydrangea paniculata, and was surprised to see it bleeding. All branchlets have stopped except one, which I have tried cauterising with a soldering iron. Any other ideas? Regards, Nick. |

Bleeding hydrangea!

Not being quite sure how to go about it, I found an item from Gardeners World where Monty Don was showing how it was done, and he dipped the cuttings in powdered charcoal to stop the bleeding. Why that in particular, I don't know; I would think any fine powder would do, as long as it was sterile, possibly even flour. Thanks very much. I can always use a pestle and mortar on some barbeque charcoal :-) Regards, Nick Maclaren. |
