Default Runner beans 2

Not wanting to change the present Runner discussion I have opened this
new thread.
In this months "Garden" the RHS magazine they have the results of their
2013 runner bean trials.
This and the other Bean thread made me wonder why we don't run our own
Trials next year, that way we would get results from a much wider range
of areas and soil types.
http://apps.rhs.org.uk/planttrials/T...ner%202013.pdf
We could select a few varieties to trial, possibly swap a few seeds
amongst ourselves though with the cost of postage that may not save much.
What do you think?
David @ a still dry side of Swansea bay.

David we don't bother to save seeds and after talking to one of our
neighbours about his crop this year, I don't think he will, he has done very
poorly. Our Enorma have been fantastic and we will be planting the same next
year. Raised bed. 5 ft double run held together at the top in the
traditional way. "About" 10 plants but when we strip them down I will count.
Raised bed with copious supplies of our own home made compost and well
watered throughout from the butts nearby which catch the garage and shed
roofs.

I wasn't talking about saving seeds but as many packets contain around
40 seeds and people like yourself only plant 10 then swaping spare seeds
might appeal to some.

If, like me, and I suspect most gardeners you get a successful crop from
your runner beans, in all probability more than you need what is the
point of trying to get more?
