Mind your own business
Had a problem with this for years, but have cracked it from a very old
method, 'watered' with the salty and hot water strained off from the veg............................ And it works. Mike .................................................. Chris had a couple of emails over this curse and perhaps you can answer the
question. Is it the salt or the hot water? I can assure you that in our case, there is very little salt. Care to comment? Mike .................................................. Makes a lovely liner for hanging baskets instead of moss Curious that this should come up now, because I was thinking of posting on just this topic. The other day I made up some Root-Out. Now Root-Out is only licensed for use as a compost accelerator. But on the way to the compost heap I accidentally managed to get some of the solution onto a large patch of MYOB, and it has killed it. Great! I shall have to be careless in other parts of the garden where MYOB is flourishing. Actually, I see no problem in using it for killing MYOB. As I said, it is licensed as a compost accelerator, and all I'm doing is accelerating the conversion of MYOB to compost, but 'in situ', IYSWIM. A problem for many may be the availability of Root-Out, as I doubt it's sold in Garden Centres any more (although I've not looked). I have some old stock. But it's available here as a compost accelerator: http://www.garden-products.info/rootout.htm However, the essential component is available. It's ammonium sulphamate. Note the spelling: sulphamate, not sulphate. Get it on eBay. http://tinyurl.com/lw6wgp6 The RHS site says Glyphosate works on MYOB. I'm still experimenting on the patch where I didn't manage to 'spill' Root-Out over all of it, to see if also works. The Root-Out was quick though; the MYOB was dead in a few days. https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=348 -- Chris Gardening in West Cornwall overlooking the sea. As a small child I used to follow my grandfather around when he was gardening and it was in his greenhouse so I said "what's that?" so he said "Mind your own business" and I was upset and went crying to my grandmother for such harshness who immediately marched down the garden and said "what have you said to this child?" She was about to give him a bad time. but when he explained she let him off.. Tina |
