Dendrobium nobile revisited
Do I need to cut back the stem all the flowers were on when I bought
it? Every last flower has finally fallen off. Two 'canes' appear to have been cut back before but two shoots are appearing from the base of one of them and another has the tiniest possible nub appearing on the cane itself. -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.com South Devon www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

They store nutrients for the plant and may well re-flower too. Cut them off when they wither. -- Regards. Bob Hobden. Posted to this Newsgroup from the W of London, UK |

I thought cutting it back would be a bit weird as it's all plump and shining green! -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.com South Devon www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

I should add that when you give them their rest period next autumn they will shrivel a little but by wither I mean go brown and obviously dead. -- Regards. Bob Hobden. That sounds as if it should be fairly obvious what to do! I'm very grateful for your help. Don't be surprised if you get the occasional photo with 'help' attached! -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.com South Devon www.helpforheroes.org.uk |
