Frosty start
We had a bit of frost on the garden this morning. One corner of a south
facing border always seems to get more than any other part but I suppose that's because further along it has some tree cover. According to the temperature gizmo on my computer it's -1C in Plymouth at present. Everyone on the nursery is wrapped in several layers of warm clothing, which is then slowly removed, stage by stage, when they're working in the greenhouses, on which the sun is happily shining atm! Enough is retained to preserve their modesty! ;-) -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.com South Devon www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

My daughter will be in Amsterdam this week - what's the weather forecast for the area? |

http://knmi.nl/waarschuwingen_en_verwachtingen/ The Met Office provides a forecast for Amsterdam http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/w...ime=1389999600 You will have to wait a day for Sunday's forecast. I'll forward that to her, thanks. It's a short business trip - arriving Wednesday, leaving Friday. |

The bad news is that it is gloomy and damp today, but at least it is 8C and not raining ATM. There's a graphic version of the Dutch forecast with a rain radar image here http://knmi.nl/ The forecast is drizzle for the next two days Better than sleet... Her plane arrived early, and she's just checked into the hotel - with a US credit card. No chip&pin, unfortunately... |

Did you see the sloppy toy soldiers changing the guard all morning? No, she was working, so I figured I'd watch again tomorrow afternoon when she's between meetings. |

Today it's even damper and gloomier than yesterday. OTOH a year ago it was snowing and gloomy. She said it was 'nice' drizzle. But she likes Scottish weather! |

Sunny days? :-) Next time the Royal Marines move/rescue cars in Cornwall they might find it quicker if they use more than two planks. It's good entertainment doing it with only two planks on programmes like Top Gear, but time consuming and a bit silly in the real world. Perhaps that's all they had available. Military funding cuts etc....! -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.com South Devon www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

A sort of mini King Harry ferry, perhaps! as thick as two short ones? :-) Maybe perforated steel plates would be a better solution. The sort used for temporary runways in post war Europe. Is that the same as a Bailey Bridge? I love the fact that it was a 10 yr old boy who came up with the rescue idea in Cornwall, though. Did the job and gave them some training, too! -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.com South Devon |
