Default Spring on the way?

This morning I found one white crocus in flower and a climbing rose with
new shoots on it, some almost an inch long whilst other buds are showing
signs of swelling.
A couple of daffs have good buds on them but they haven't turned down
yet and as for my snow drops, I found a few yesterday about half an inch
out of the ground.
I also found that a Poplar tree around 15 year old blew down in the
night. We had winds gusting to around 70mph around 4 to 5am and again
around 9am, now it's down to just under 50 mph.
I don't suppose that all the rain we have had has helped, the last few
days have given us another 1.9 inches, and it's still running from the
fields above us.

At the other end, it's breezy with the odd gust but nothing like
you've had at your end. Showery and mainly sunny today but if the
forecast is to be believed we're in for a relatively dry week here.
Though it looks wetter where you are.

I hope the fallen tree didn't involve collateral damage to anything
though still a bind to have to chop it up for "disposal".

It's also surprisingly warm - t-shirt weather when it's not raining
and even in the rain I've been wearing the lightest jacket I have.

Quite a few crocus in flower, no sign at all of daffs or snowdrops.
Lots of tulip leaves about 3-4" above ground. Noticed what appear to
be several clumps of bluebells leafing happily where, last year, there
were no bluebells which is a bit odd. Will have to wait and see if
they are in fact bluebells or some other invader.

Conversely, popped into Bridgend Lidl today and they still have a
small pile of snow in the corner of their car park!

Cheers, Jake

I haven't got on to my allotment for months other than some cropping. Being
Thames clay/silt it's much too wet to stand on the soil or dig and the grass
road through the site is under water with 6 inch deep ruts where some have
tried to drive. Must admit I'm beginning to be concerned that it won't get
dug before planting time, does rice mind that? :-)

.
Spring is very definitely on the way! Snowdrops have leapt into life, and I have a bunch in flower on my desk as I write. One daffodil about to open (though the rest nowhere to be seen), Cornus mas covered in yellow buds, hazel catkins open up on the reserve, and green shoots everywhere.

The climbing roses are putting out shoots, the Akebia quinata alba is
budding, one of the prunus (unknown) has some fuzzy green on it. The
Rosa banksiae lutea which has taken a beating over two winters is now
in leaf bud with flower buds appearing to be alongside them! Some daffs
are out on the drive. Magnolia Butterflies has fat, furry buds. The
signs are hopeful!

The snowdrops here are 90% out in swathes, and we are a fairly cold part of
the country in late winter/early spring. First daff not far away (Rignvelds

Winter is back. The wind is from the north. Everything was white with
hail ten minutes ago, before it melted. It is 3C.

Bright sunshine, very tiny breeze, green fields, 7C...
