Wednesday I set off for work, got to the road through the village and found
it closed and lots of police everywhere. Turns out a water main had burst
and flooded the road with 8 inches of water. when they came to fix it, they
found it has been leaking for some time and had undermined the road.

Now the problem is, there is only one road through the village [ and a
narrow footbridge over the A14]. Travel east and you get to Felixstowe and
the coast, travel west and you get to Ipswich.

Due to the closure, I had to go west rather than east, and my 3 mile, less
than 10 minutes trip to work turned into a 7 mile trip to the outskirts of
Ipswich and back and took nearly 30 minutes!

Today they have installed traffic lights, so almost back to normal on day 3.
Can't wait to see what next week will bring.

Meh, if you get caught the wrong side of hill here when the roads get
closed by snow (like most where last night) you'd be looking at anything
from 30 extra miles and a hour or 100+ miles and a couple of hours
depending on whcih hill you where behind...

Sounds like the Trimleys near the mushroom farm. :-)

Hadn't realised there were problems.
