Driving through the Forest of Dean at the weekend, I was surprised to
see quite a lot of Mistletoe. It seemed to be in patches, with serveral very large clumps on the trees it had infected (not really the right word - I know). I don't recall ever having seen so much before, and I do drive that way one every 2/3 months. Has anyone else noticed this extra growth? Thinking about it, it could have been that it was quite a bright day, and the clumps were clearly green against the bare tree branches. -- Roger T 700 ft up in Mid-Wales |

There is more of it down south and as global warming takes off it will become a pest up north too. Belgium has a lot of it growing wild. -- Regards, Martin Brown |

ISTR a TV program about mistletoe being deliberately grown for the highly profitable commercial market, and FOD/Gloucestershere/Herefordshire were the main producing areas? Janet I doubt it, this mistletoe was high up in mature trees, and if it was commercial would have been decimated for crimbo! Commercial growers would not risk "Elf & Softy" to climb to such heights, they would surely use small easy access trees. http://www.jonathanbriggs.co.uk/mistletoemanagement.htm Janet |

I saw someone on the TV a little while ago saying it is in decline and of concern. Thought at the time they must have never visited the Great Park, Windsor and it's surroundings. Some of the trees look like they are in full leaf there is so much growing on them especially up near Englefield Green and also Runnymede. There are even within reach on some small street trees along the central reservation by Thorpe Park that have it, it's where we got ours from for Christmas a couple of years ago. -- Regards. But then things will have changed since I lived in the area. Certainly when I was living around that way mistletoe seemed to be everywhere, particularly high up in lime trees.
