Melons
I have grown a couple of melon plants in my greenhouse this year.
After a slow start (being eaten by slugs) I have one small fruit and I was wondering when would be the time to pick it? |

You can smell them when ripe. If you give the melon a slight tweak, the stalk will break off . You need to be more careful slecting your variety, some need heat and some don't. I had average five fruits per plant, they were all ready weeks ago. (The soil temperature is critical so they are best NOT grown in the ground, takes a long time to heat up.) |

Also, don't water with cold tap water, (cools the soil/roots), water with water at air temp, ie from a container/water but in the greenhouse. |
