Compost help.
Its not really a problem, just a curiosity.
I have two big boxes, both covered with two layers of carpet. The one that I have cooking, I had a peek inside, to see how it was going on, and there were lots and lots of worms in-between the layers of the carpeting. , I thought they were exiting the heap, but I turned it out into another box, and there are plenty of worms, and all sorts going on, its not ready yet at all. Any ideas why they should be inside the layers of carpet? As I said, not a problem, just curious. Sheila. |

It might be that they are finding the main compost either too wet or too dry for them, and are finding the carpet more suitable to their needs as a worm bedroom. So long as there are also plenty of worms throughout the compost itself then, as you say, it's not a worry. |
