Vegetables under Cloche
I have two raised vegetable beds, one of which is covered
by a fleece cloche which has no ventilation. The temp gets to about 30 deg C on sunny days. Lettuce and Spinach are doing wonderfully well under it. I understand that commercial lettuce is often grown in a polytunnel. Now that the season has warmed I intended to remove the fleece but should I keep the cloche on permanently? Anybody know which vegetables (apart from the obvious tropical types such as toms, peppers and chillies) thrive under cloches and which do better in the cool? thanks Davy |

Lettuce certainly want to be in the cool one, or they'll be bitter. I don't know about spinach, can't stand the stuff. Steve |

Steve Steve, interesting then that commercial lettuce is often grown in polytunnels. DAvy |
