Gillenia trifoliata is such a lovely plant i ma surprised not more
people grow it. It's light and airy, not a thug and has dark red stalks and blackish seedheads after flowering in July so has a longish length of interest. Does anyone know this plant well and so can tell me when the seed is ripe? I mean how do i tell? Apparently it will come true from seed and so I'd love to try it. Janet p.s. a photo of it is here (blinking long link, sorry) http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?im...leurs.com/imag es/Delabroye-vivaces-3/Gillenia%2520trifoliata.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.m ytho-fleurs.com/images/Delabroye-vivaces-3/page_06.htm&h=580&w=773&sz=143 &hl=en&start=1&um=1&tbnid=qryXx4qjUevnMM:&tbnh=107 &tbnw=142&prev=/images% 3Fq%3DGillenia%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rls%3DGGLG,GGL G:2006-25,GGLG:en%26sa% 3DN I personally would always put it with space around it as it looks so pretty looking through it rather than against a wall or fence, likes shade as well! -- Janet Tweedy Dalmatian Telegraph http://www.lancedal.demon.co.uk |

In article , Charlie
Pridham writes I always waited until the first seeds dropped then harvested the lot into a paper bag by cutting them off and letting the rest drop in the bag. Its been too long to remember the exact timings - sorry! but I can tell you it does well from seed. Thanks Charlie, I'll keep a look out ![]() -- Janet Tweedy Dalmatian Telegraph http://www.lancedal.demon.co.uk |
