At 18:45 CET It's currently 28C in Groningen way up north in NL. In Zuid Holland it's 21C and thunderstorms are heading this way. It's been a lovely sunny summer day. There is no justice.......... ;-) -- Sacha http://www.hillhousenursery.co.uk South Devon 'We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.' |

I can't say we're having a "typical" summer in the west of Scotland, but it's a *very* nice one. I can't see how it can improve :-) May rainfall was less than a third of average and June has started the same way - glorious warm sunshine yesterday and today, necessitating lots of watering of the garden :-) Good job you're not my Christmas card list......... ;-)) -- Sacha http://www.hillhousenursery.co.uk South Devon 'We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.' |

Rainy, grey, grey, sun, grey, rainy etc.
Since forecasting last week, that Saturday in the West Midlands would be
heavy rain, the day turned out mild but mainly overcast, Sunday gave us a few drops late in the day but otherwise warm and dry, Monday has been warm overcast and dry so far, earlier was forecasting very heavy rain, but this evening forecast suggests rain belt will be more to the East. The impending weather front has obviously slowed its progress, and veered eastwards more than it was. Thats nature for you. warm and cloudy at present will see what overnight brings. regards Cineman OOOOPS sorry for top post "Sacha" wrote in message ... Rainy, grey, grey, sun, grey, rainy etc.
On late Saturday afternoon, the forecast 'showers' fell as torrential
cloudbursts on Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot and surrounding areas causing some serious short term flooding. Here in Torbay, just a few miles further south on the coast, it remained sunny and stickily warm throughout the weekend with temperatures a good 5C or 6C above those forecast for the region. Apparently, this current, unusually wet continental weather will give way to Atlantic (normally wet) weather towards the end of the week. In other words, another UK summer! |

Our butcher lives about 2 miles from here, if that, as the crow flies. He said his lawn was so water logged that his dogs (Springer Spaniels) were up to their stomachs in water. Here, we had stair rods for about 15 minutes and then it stopped. We had thunderstorms and torrential rain all night. We had quite a lot of rain but no thunder - or if there was we slept through it! -- Sacha http://www.hillhousenursery.co.uk South Devon 'We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.' |

Now I know it's going to be perfect weather, I'll order more strawberries, too. ;-)) Actually, today is lovely. We had lunch with friends in Salcombe whose house overlooks the sea and they have a fantastic garden of just under an acre. They are really terrific gardeners. It is a mass of colour and you look down into a canopy of tree ferns from the balcony as it's an upside down house. Lampranthus and Lychnis were flowering wildly and we were pale green with envy to see the Aeoniums flourishing outside. But it was very hard - for me - to beat the sea sparkling away and lots of little boats with sails set, flying along at a cracking pace. -- Sacha http://www.hillhousenursery.co.uk South Devon 'We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.' |
