Where have all the nasty posts gone? There are some awfully long
replies on here, and no one has whinged about them yet?

I only posted once, and got a bleeding earful of abuse.

Is it just newbies that get it, or was someone having a bad day?

Probably someone having a bad day. There are much worse newsgroups. I
tried joining in with the food and drink group once but that place isn't
safe unless you are wearing full body armour and a hard hat :-)

People do get unnecessarily worked up on usenet!

One of the other groups I lurk around, and sometimes post is a uk cycling
group. Woe betide anyone who even mentions the word "helmet" (..... as in
"cycling helmet", people ...!!..) - there invariably follows a quite
vitriolic for-and-against-compulsory argument, even if it's unrelated to the
original post! And I've been quite horribly patronised, insulted and flamed
....

I think the anonimity of this (wonderful) method of communication makes
people forget manners and the conventions of polite conversation. A shame
really.

This group I find normally sensible, polite and often funny. Thank you.

Yes, it used to be so friendly too. I left when hostilities began.
