two novelties this autumn/winter.
It's late to do so I know, but I have just
applied nematode worms to my veggie patch. It is supposed to kill the slugs under the surface. Supplied by Thomson & Morgan. I have spring cabbages growing and as it has been such a bad season this year I felt I had to so something. Not cheap though.Just over £9 , but I've got millions of 'em.(nematodes) My second novelty is a spud pot.A black plastic tube about 15" diameter and 18" deep. 6" soil at the bottom with 3 spuds on top, then a further 6" compost. As the growth appears add another layer of compost, and so on until you get to the top. This way there should be spuds all the way up. I am hoping to get new pots for Xmas.It is in the greenhouse (unheated). I'll keep you informed. Anyone with similar experiences of the above, I'd appreciated your comments. Yours in gardening, Sam |
