Kill It, Cook It, Eat It
"Pete (.¿.)" wrote in message ... On Tue, 06 Mar 2007 09:03:48 +0000, "Pete (.¿.)" A horrid insight, albeit clinical and staged, into the meat industry. Now add the fact that there are billions of animals slaughtered globally, in factory farmed conditions, nothing like the staged show we have seen. Then we can wonder what kind of person can be involved in that industry! You and many others find modern meat production methods objectionable yes, but think for a moment. The system in this country is strictly controlled with laid down rules and conditions both for safe, wholesome meat production and with consideration for minimal pain and suffering of the animals going to slaughter. Government vets are in attendance at all markets and slaughter houses, back street abattoirs have been closed down. Long gone are the days when a pig/lamb would be fattened in every other back yard and slaughtered by any Tom Dick or Harry that could wield a knife. Me, I eat and enjoy eating meat, the flesh of other animals is what I thrive on. I grew up with street celebrations around a home slaughtered pig. I have killed my own creatures in my own backgarden (gardening content), prepared them for the oven, and enjoyed eating them in the knowledge that they had a decent life and a quick death, but no longer do so in line with modern thinking. I believe youngsters should know where their burgers and sausages come from, and see no wrong in showing them, but am unable to comment on the content of the show you refer to as I did not even know it was being shown. I just noticed, you have sent your post to many other newsgroups, what exactly is your objective? Mike www.farend.org.uk |

Then we can wonder what kind of person can be involved in that industry! You and many others find modern meat production methods objectionable yes, Horrendous even. but think for a moment. The system in this country is strictly controlled with laid down rules and conditions both for safe, wholesome meat production and with consideration for minimal pain and suffering of the animals going to slaughter. Complete crap. To find anyone involved in the meat trade, that actually cares about their victims is a rarity indeed. In fact by definition, they couldn't do it if they cared! Government vets are in attendance at all markets and slaughter houses, Rubbish. back street abattoirs have been closed down. Long gone are the days when a pig/lamb would be fattened in every other back yard and slaughtered by any Tom Dick or Harry that could wield a knife. Wrong again. Bully for you. I believe youngsters should know where their burgers and sausages come from, and see no wrong in showing them, I'd say it should be compulsory. but am unable to comment on the content of the show you refer to as I did not even know it was being shown. Interesting and worthwhile, but highly stage managed. I just noticed, you have sent your post to many other newsgroups, what exactly is your objective? Why, do you think we should never talk to each other? I noticed you snipped groups without asking out of courtesy? What exactly are you up to? -- Avoid the rush at the last judgement. In fact by definition, they couldn't do it if they cared! As it happens I have a niece who spent 5 long years training as a vet and who currently works for the government as a vet, spending many days at livestock markets and abattoirs. She cares a lot about the conditions and handling of livestock Government vets are in attendance at all markets and slaughter houses, Rubbish. See above, do your homework. back street abattoirs have been closed down. Long gone are the days when a pig/lamb would be fattened in every other back yard and slaughtered by any Tom Dick or Harry that could wield a knife. Wrong again. Which part? I know the home slaughter part is not legal now in the UK, as it was when I was a boy. It took a lot of searching for my wife and I to find an abattoir to slaughter goat for us about 8 years ago. Bully for you. Yep Bullybeef is good too. No just wondering what your interest is in a gardening group other than a forum for your own agenda. I noticed you snipped groups without asking out of courtesy? What exactly are you up to? -- I reply only to the group to which I consider myself a member, unlike you I have no interest in being read by folk with whom I have no known common interest. As I do again now. Avoid the rush at the last judgement. Be converted now instead! Converted to what exactly? And finally I think your subject line should be; Rear it, kill it, cook it, eat it.
