Outdoor autumn/spring flowering cyclamen
Way back in June the group advised me on what to do with the seeds that
had set and that advice must have been good as I now have two small trays with about 10 mini plants in each. How do I look after them over the next few months? They are currently outside and subject to all the weather decides to throw at them - I have a heated greenhouse, but don't have a cold frame. So over to you guys again so that I still have my plants to ask more questions about in 2007. Cheers Steve |

They self seed around a friends garden and I've noticed some little ones coming up in ours too so I would think they would be OK outside in a sheltered spot. -- Regards Bob H 17mls W. of London.UK |

I would keep them in a cool part of the greenhouse, but that's so I can keep my eye on them and keep them free of slugs etc, not because of any worries about the cold. -- Kay |

Yes, I agree that they will be fine outside. It's best to leave them in the trays and only split them up into separate pots when they're a reasonable size and about to come into growth, i.e. midsummer. I would tend to leave them until 2008! Cheers Steve Tiny though they are, they could go out into the ground, biggest problem is over wet rather than cold. so as long as you bear that in mind they will be fine over winter outside not too shaded, they should remain in leaf now until about May next year when they will retreat to their little corms. -- Charlie, gardening in Cornwall. http://www.roselandhouse.co.uk Holders of National Plant Collections of Clematis viticella (cvs) and Lapageria rosea |

Thanks for all the responces. As the area I currently have the trays in is very shaded and sometimes can become wet I will move them into an area of the greenhouse that is fairly cool and relatively light. Hopefully I'll be able to give you a positive update in another six months! Thanks Steve |
