This is the virus someone tried to send me yesterday but the subject header
was different and was something like

WORST VIRUS EVER --- CNN ANNOUNCED
PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST!!

A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft
as the most destructive ever. This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon
by McAfee . This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where
vital information for its functioning are stored.
This virus acts in the following manner:
It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the title:
"A Card for You".

As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened the computer freezes so
that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+ del keys or the reset button
are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the
hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in New
York, according to news broadcast by CNN.

This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself.
So don't open any mails with subject: "A Virtual Card for You." As soon as
you get the mail, delete it!! Even if you know the sender !!!

Please pass this mail to all of your friends.

Forward this to everyone in your address book. I'm sure most people, like
myself, would rather receive this notice 25 times than not at all

The e-mail is in itself the virus.

You send it to lots of destinations as it suggests, then they do the
same. The ida is to clog the net with spoof warnings.

Macaffee couldn't find an elephant in the middle of a tennis court. If
there were one, of course.

Indeed. And the biggest single clue to any of these type of fakes is...

PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST!!

If you think about it, that's pretty much what somebody who has the
ability to write an 'efficient' [for want of a better phrase!]
e-mail/contact list virus code does automatically. These fakes simply
try and make you do it all manually! : 7

I cannot understand why people open attachments, unless they have first
checked with the sender to find out what it is all about.

I never open attachments unless I'm expecting them.

Some time ago I had an email from someone I knew, and I couldn't understand
why he had sent me a thing like this, so I asked him and it seems his
computer had been infected and everyone in his address book had been sent
this, a number of the idiots who opened it now had their computers infected.

So, I would advise anyone getting an attachment, unless they were expecting
it, to check with the sender before opening.
