Wintering over water lettuce
Just put the pond to bed for the winter today - cleaned out the old
plants, shut down the waterfall, etc. I had a ton of water lettuce that came from a single plant I bought this spring. I am in Zone 6, and the top of the pond does freeze over for a few weeks in the winter, so I doubt that the water lettuce would survive. Just for kicks, I put one of the smaller ones in a glass bowl and brought it inside to see what it does. Has anyone ever tried wintering over this plant? |

Wintering over water lettuce

Has anyone ever tried wintering over this plant? ================= I've had the best success with putting some small ones in a fish tank with lights on 10 hrs (more or less) a day. They stay small but survive until spring. They've also lived over in a sunny window in a dishpan of water - fertilize lightly once in awhile. -- Carol..... I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and it only takes suspicion, not proof, to destroy it. º¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤º ~*~ ~*~ º¤º°`°¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤º ~*~ ~*~ |
