Apology Accepted ... for what?
Me too (confused). We have at least 2 people in here that run a business
and even though they do not put up obnoxious adds, they do have a link to their site where they sell fish and plant related "stuff" and they have had posts where it is clear that they do trade in the business. Apology Accepted ... for what?
I started a new thread because I wanted to make sure that it was seen for
what it was -- accepting an apology, not just another post that had nothing to do with the header. I wanted to make sure that Ghislain saw it; having made more than one apology in my life, that seemed important. (It never occurred to me, frankly, that not everyone had seen Ghislain's repeated posts. I suspect that many people simply skipped the "baby fantail" thread entirely.) In any event, those who missed the build-up to this can always google-group for the sordid details. Anne Lurie Raleigh, NC "~ jan JJsPond.us" wrote in message s.com... Tried that and it was REALLY ugly.... hundreds of items... eventually tracked original down and I still don't get it. It is fairly easy to post to the wrong thread and even if it was not an accident I had no problem with the link. In fact, I liked it. It just seems that folks are becoming more and more edgy and less and less tolerant over the past 2.5 years. I'm probably becoming over-sensitized to that. It seemed like an opportunity to say "cut the guy some slack and just let it go". I've always had fast internet connections and have no problem blocking either posters or threads so what people post has never been an issue with me. Mostly I would just like to see people lighten up a bit. As I said, I just don't get it. Then again I'm still puzzled about why my response to a post where I said that "liberal" was not a dirty word raised such a ruckus. DK "~ jan JJsPond.us" wrote in message s.com... Jeez I spend a lot of time saying oops! (what's that I hear about violins on
TV).... That was Jan's web site that I thought was so nice.... (which I should have known given that I've been there often enough)... The post I eventually found in reference to the GOOGLE search I did oddly had her link in it. After reading further into the posting I now get that the complaint was that rather THAN give a LINK he posted an advertisement. I use to be able to do multiple things at the same time.... I guess when the eyesight started going downhill so did that parallel processing.... I still stand by my "lighten up" request though. It is healthier for us all. DK "dkat" wrote in message .net... Thanks "dkat" for your opinion.I do think that these correspondence to the
Newsgroups take good time to send proper imformation out to the question asked .This is the way I look at it.The remark about if I was the one that caused the power failure was a cheap remark.I think that one who said that was not thinking about how bad it is to be without power and what the heck was going on out there in the States we don't need bad things happening. Thanks again for your opinion. Apology Accepted ... for what?
I'm getting just the days postings from my server - if I'm lucky I get
yesterdays. Given I can only read the group when I have a slow period at work I miss a lot of what has been said. After I following zookeepers instructions and trying google I still didn't get it. I cannot read the threads in the in google and make sense of them (as became clear when I thought your link was from the original poster). I have always thought of this newsroom as a very pleasant place to be and was surprised by what I read and wanted to know what it was about. I'm not sure what lecturing you are referring to given that the post you are responding to actually states that I had screwed up. I guess it is all a matter of how you read things... to me you sound like you have a hair up your back end for no apparent reason... to you I sound like I'm lecturing... Whatever.... gey gezunterhait DK "~ jan JJsPond.us" wrote in message s.com... On Sun, 24 Aug 2003 01:21:29 GMT, "dkat" wrote: I still stand by my "lighten up" request though. Yes, in your "hey, it's not my fault, it's the internet's" you said you
screwed up, you should have stopped there, but you ended with the parting shot of telling others to lighten up. When I suggested you consider taking your own advice, you continued on with the long tirade below? And I've got a wild hair? Let's see; gey gezunterhait = good-bye in yiddish, wonder if it also means I've been killfiled? I hope so. I really, really don't get what you are talking about. You did not explain
how it was that I was giving a lecture. When it felt like I was getting irritated response I tried to explain my confusion and my reaction. I have said repeatedly that I have a problem (I refer to it as the Violins on TV - I am of course assuming you are old enough to get that reference) of getting things wrong. Basically I have said that I'm confused on this issue please help. I did say clearly that it was probably the case that I am the one that is over-sensitive on the issue of people seeming mean these days. I thought I made it clear that I was unable to follow what was going on either locally or through google (it seemed at the time slightly intolerant to tell me that if I wanted information on this to go to google and then have you chime in with an unnecessary cheer). Apparently I'm not sufficiently articulate if you continue to think I'm trying to pick a fight and it sure seems that this is what you are doing. I don't know why you would think that I would want to kill file you. I do kill file people who are offensive beyond tolerance. So far you have only seemed aggressive. (it seemed at the time slightly intolerant to tell me that if I wanted information on this to go to google and then have you chime in with an unnecessary cheer). It wasn't a cheer directed at you. It was a good answer, imo, for anyone who might be wondering what is going on without it being all dredged up again and explained. Especially for an OT thread. Apparently I'm not sufficiently articulate if you continue to think I'm trying to pick a fight and it sure seems that this is what you are doing. I never would have gotten into this if the degatory comment "to lighten up" hadn't been said. I wouldn't have continued the next time, if there hadn't been a personal attack saying, *I must have a wild hair.... * So who wanted to start a fight? Not me. I just don't like to be told what to do, by someone who has no power over me, nor will I tolerate an attack on my person. Note, I only asked you to take your own advice, and wondered if what you thought was my problem was really yours. What in the world is derogatory about the term "lighten up"? It certainly
wasn't meant to be, which is why I added all of the extra to try to explain what it was part of. I really, really dislike language. You need dozens of emos to get the right meaning. And yes I did misinterpret your Cheers. The way it was cut and pasted it felt like a blowoff.... note felt... subjective not objective which is what I was trying to get across earlier when I said the way we were interpreting what was being said was a problem. Gey gezuntgeheit is Yiddish (also German)- meaning go in good health but that isn't enough... it is hard to translate.... kinda means we have done enough of this (which we apparently hadn't if we were both still misinterpreting each other).
