Water Gardening School???
Ok... so people who have their own watergardening stores and
greenhouses... Where do they go to school?? I'm assuming probably a regular horticulture schooling but is there an actual school for taking courses on water gardening or aquatic plants?? I've been fascinated for 10+ years and would love to "really" learn all I can... would potentially love to have my own place... God.. this happens to me everytime I come back from Lilyblooms in Canton, OH :O) Everytime I go it makes the desire to know more and DO more stronger!!! Problem is that I have to work and I know there isn't going to be any schools around here (Northern WV) that I could go to night classes for this so it would almost have to be an at-home schooling or on-line schooling... Anyone??? Leslie in WV |

wrote in message ups.com... Ok... so people who have their own watergardening stores and greenhouses... Where do they go to school?? ** I don't think they do. There's a pond store in my area where the people know do little about fish and pond plants I never went back. I believe many of them are just jumping on the pond bandwagon to make a living - because the startup isn't too outrageous and there's $$$ to be made. I haven't stopped in there as yet. God.. this happens to me everytime I come back from Lilyblooms in Canton, OH :O) Everytime I go it makes the desire to know more and DO more stronger!!! Anyone??? ** Why not get your own education? Read every website you can find on water quality, fish keeping, ponds, pond and swamp plants, landscaping, raising fry etc. etc. etc. Visit as many businesses as you can. See how they're set up. I think it's one of those things you mostly learn by experience, and reading information available. -- Gareee's Homepage: http://www.fortunecity.com/tattooine.../mainframe.htm Remove Delicious spam to reply |

Leslie, If WV has a land grant college, they will have many
agricultural courses, and many state colleges have extension programs. They may even have courses you can take online. And ag people at state colleges are usually a friendly bunch. If you have specific questions, one of the profs might help you by telephone or direct you to a source of good information. Good lluck! |

Lilyblooms is a watergarden/pond store in Canton, OH... they have
BEAUTIFUL plants and the fish are great... There's 2 greenhouses full of tropical and hardy lily's and almost every kind of aquatic plant you can think of... I've been going there for about 5 years and it's over a 2 hour drive for me.... we made a point of going about twice a year (my mom and I) and usually each spend well over $200.... :OP If you're near Ohio, it's worth the trip :O) Leslie |

Anyone??? Leslie in WV What others have mentioned, and also your extension agent, perhaps you have a Master Gardener program in the area? We just had a new WG place open here (W.Richland, WA), we have a "koi pond store" (Koi Joy, Kennewick, WA) but not really a WG store with someone who not only knows plants, but does his very best to display them, it is a very cool set up. ~ jan ~Power to the Porg, Flow On!~ |
