Tetra pump needs impeller shaft!!!
Anyone.... my Tetra Typhoon 500 gph water pump wore out the shaft that runs
through the impeller. I Googled Tetra and got nowhere. Are they still USA based in MD? I'm at a loss to find this Co. to order a replacement shaft. I bought the pump at PetsMart a few years ago, but they are no help at all - the man didn't even know what I was talking about. :-( I don't want to toss a perfectly good pump because of a shaft pin! -- McKoi.... the frugal ponder... Shaft or shaft pin?? If it is a shaft pin and it is a roll pin, any good auto parts store will have what you need. |

If that is it ....I sure don't mind sticking it in the mail. =========================== I would really appreciate that. :-) The pump is the Tetra Typhoon No. 16685 . However I don't have a PO box where it can be sent. The Police recommended I not give any personal information to anyone online due to the threats I received from a poster *here.* I plan to call Tetra tomorrow and see if I can get this ceramic shaft from them. If not then I can check out an Auto Supply store. What would these shaft pins be used for in a car - do you know? It was awfully small. My curiosity has the best of me. :-) -- McKoi.... the frugal ponder... Make sure of which Reel McKoi you're replying to - the TROLL from alt.religion.jehovahs-witn is using other people's names to bypass killfiles. There are now TWO Cracklin's and TWO Reel McKoi's posting here. There is no limit to how low a religious fanatic will stoop to silence someone or get an audience for themselves when ignored. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

I had a simular problem with a stalker online. I ended up having to
shut down everything, getting a new email addy, new site all of it. I've seen those pins in auto stores. Wonder if it has anything to do with a drive shaft? |

The impeller shaft spins on this pin. What do these pins do in an automobile? What are they for? We might be talking about two different things. Roll pins are rolled steel, gives them a little bit a "spring". Typically they would be put through a hole in a shaft to hold an impeller. Like a "T". http://www.barnhillbolt.com/acb26/he...&MenuCode=MAIN They would be used to hold the drive gear on a GM distributor amongst other things. Last time I used one was to install a large yellow knob on a PP1 valve. That is a truck air brake valve. Typically, auto parts stores will have a drawer with a selection of these pins. |

This is a long thin ceramic needle-like thing, more like a piece of cut coathanger but is made of ceramic material. It goes through the impeller to keep it spinning in the middle of the impeller well. It's stabilized at both ends so the impeller can spin and not actually touch the sides of the well. -- McKoi.... the frugal ponder... I've seen those pins in auto stores. Wonder if it has anything to do with a drive shaft? =============================== Changing my ISP (for an unlimited service) was the best move I made since he can't use my identity and e-mail address to post or sign me up on porn sites and sex/lesbian NGs anymore, nor can he bomb my new ISP with bogus complaints using numerous sock-puppets with free disposable e-mail accounts, or send me threatening e-mail complete with viruses. You saw the ceramic pins? The other poster had a website for me to check out but they were not the ceramic pins used by Tetra. A metal pin would probably work but they didn't look thin enough. The length is also hard to figure since the ends of the Tetra pin sit firmly in depressions at each end to hold it stable. -- McKoi.... the frugal ponder... ~~~ }((((o ~~~ }{{{{o ~~~ }(((((o http://www.hyphenologist.co.uk/killf..._troll_faq.htm |

Any chance at a pic?? ============================= No. I tried to find replacement parts for Tetra pumps and never came across them, no less a pic of this ceramic shaft. It was just a thin ceramic rod that looked like a piece of white coat hanger and was about 4" long. The ends were clean-cut and the surface was rough like flat paint (IOW not slick and shiny). -- McKoi.... the frugal ponder... Mine live in my town talk about a hard situation. ========================= You may want to notify the local Police then (or the police in the town the stalker is from). I did and at least there's a record now that this "person" threatened me. Some of these people are dangerous sociopaths. It's always good to let the Police know when someone threatens you online or is trying to steal/use your identity. This troll/stalker was even talking about getting my credit report. Be careful! I got a reply from Tetra this morning to call them and order this part. They do carry it the e-mail said. :-) Without that ceramic shaft the pump is useless. I once threw away a Beckett pump not thinking I could order a new impeller.... -- McKoi.... the frugal ponder... EVERYONE: "Please check people's headers for forgeries before flushing."
