Oxygen releasing capacity of trees
I am interested in lterature on the net which provides details of
oxygen releasing capacities of various trees i.e. relative quantum of oxygen released by the trees. Also there are trees which are believed to be releasing oxygen during day as well as night. It would be interesting to have a lst of such trees and any scentific proof of the same. |

"Trees" encompasses tens or hundreds of thousands of species of many different groups of plants. Rates of photosynthesis depend on temperature, light exposure and intensity, water, CO2 and mineral nutrient availability, season, health, age and other factors. Also there are trees which are believed to be releasing oxygen during day as well as night. It would be interesting to have a lst of such trees and any scentific proof of the same. Oxygen is produced by photosynthesis, which requires light. However, plants that need to conserve moisture often have some mechanism for limiting gas exchange to darkness, when the ambient air is cooler and more moist. Like just about every simple question about biology, the only real answer is "It depends". |
