mushy psuedobulbs on a miltonia
I was inspecting my orchids this morning and found a recently transplanted
milt to have 2 brown and mushy psuedobulbs that came apart when handled- I unpotted it expecting more damage, but found 1 new growth, 2 bulbs, & 1 recent growth that dropped off. roots all looked white and no rot. bark and moss moist but not wet. 10 ft away I have a Sharry Baby seedling that has a yellowed new growth. Weather is changing, heaters are now on and off depending on the weather What caused this? I sprayed the roots and pot with physan/water before repotting and will let it rest for a few weeks. I noticed in my growing area a white film on a humidity tray and a beta fish bowl....he got new water too! I hope it was just plaster dust.We have been remodeling and stirring up mold spores is not unlikely. I think I read that a certain type of orchid does not like physan, but I cant remember which one- I'll spray the whole collection. Can't wait to move them back into my new plant room wher there is less of a draft- that may be the culprit -- Diane |
