I tried to answer Duane in the previous post but this silly thing kept
telling me I had to sign in -- after I had signed in 3 times so ----- I have written several times in this group about Miltoniopsis vs Miltonias. The statements that there are "warmth tolorant Miltoniopsis" is a lot of crap-- there are none that thrive in Florida. The species that make the hybrids come from high up in the Andes Mountains and are cool growers. Unscrupulous vendors {not growers} bring them in from California and Hawaii where the climate is considerably cooler than Florida. TRUE Miltonias grow at sea level or slightly above in Brazil, and are VERY warmth tolorant though not as showy as the Pansy type which are Miltoniopsis. I get emails from people every time I say this telling me that the white one is good for Florida--- not so --- it's slightly more tolorant of Florida heat but will not thrive like Brazilian Miltonias. Pansy orchids are for cooler climates & Floridians who buy them are Patsys {suckers} or people who buy them as "throw aways". Good Luck if you insist on throwing money away. BTW I can show you some nice "Oceanfront property at low tide. Bill |
