Hollyhocks - rust
Has anybody got a cure for hollyhock rust please? I grew the plants from seed in the hope that it wouldn't happen but I was wrong. I've been picking off the most affected leaves and putting them in the bin.

You might ask at your local garden center if any of those fungicides will also work on hollyhocks. Be careful. Not all rusts are the same. I tried hollyhocks from seed. I even get two that bloomed. However, the tortose that wanders in my garden walked up to each plant and kept walking, knocking the plant down. She then turn around and started eating the flowers and the tender tip of the shoot. She eliminated five of my six thrift (sea pinks). So far, she ignores the foxglove and columbine. -- David E. Maybe you can install some crash pillars like they put in front of stores like Best Buy and similar ;-) And a big kudos for putting up with her! -- Leon Fisk Grand Rapids MI |

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I will just have to put up with it or get rid of the hollyhocks. Shame really when it seems nothing can be done to stop the rust.
