Interesting Show on Fruits, Berries, and Nuts
Midfex (Midwest Fruit Explorers) is a not for profit club whose members
are growing fruit, nuts, and berries mostly in their backyards. Here is a chance to see over 100 varieties of apples, and numerous other interesting fruits, nuts, and berries, including the Paw Paw. The members work the show and between them represent many years of experience growing these things within the confines of one's backyard. It all takes place October 16-17 from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm at the Chicago Botanic Garden. The Garden is located in Glencoe, Illinois, just north of Chicago at the Lake Cook East exit of Edens Highway. There is no admission charge, but parking is ten dollars for cars. The Garden has among other things, a very nice vegetable garden and orchard. Check the website of Midfex (www.midfex.org) for more details. Sherwin Dubren |
