Announcement and a question
Firstly, I want the world to know that I have just canned up my very first
strawberry jam ... 21 half-pints and counting (from about 100 sq ft of garden space.). There are more berries still on the vine than I have harvested including a couple monsters that I am thinking of having drilled out for bowling balls. :-) Secondly, what is orange with 5 black dots and likes beans? Looks quite a bit like a cucumber beetle except it is orange instead of yellow and has fewer spots than this one. http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/PMG/r52300111.html I could use some help with identification. Umm ... never mind. Found it. I googled for "bean pests" and stumbled across the "Bean Leaf Beetle" at: http://www.ent.iastate.edu/imagegal/...eetle_red.html Bill C |

Picked it off. They are not usually a huge pest (according to the Organic Method Primer). Handpicking should do fine. -- Pat in Plymouth MI Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced. (attributed to Don Marti) |
