tomato "blossom end rot" what to do? (thanks)
Thanks to all. My tomatos are growing in containers and consuming
unbelievable quantities of water, so keeping them happy is a challange. Going to have to do a little more reading on calcium, though. How to get it to the plants in usable form. Organic would be cool. Thanks again, Lynn |

tomato "blossom end rot" what to do? (thanks)
We had blossom end rot here on the coast and it seems that water was the
problem. Now we water the base of the plants only, no overhead watering. Also, we have a cover (made of plastic)for the bed where the tomatoes are to guard against rain or heavy dew. We've beat it that way for three years now. Don "Lynn Coffelt" wrote in message news:Zubsa.424646$OV.425610@rwcrnsc54... Thanks to all. tomato "blossom end rot" what to do? (thanks)
I just found a single tomato with BER today. I had read previously , here
likely, that it can be due to calcium deficiency. I crushed calcium/magnesium tablets (for night legs cramps, btw) and mixed with water and watered the pot grown tomatoes and peppers. Will calcium carbonate from a pill work for a plant? We have very hard water here and I was surprised to think that calcium deficiency would be a problem! Only one "mater on one plant had it, so far.
