Does anybody have portulacaria afra growing in a 'wild" (not bonsaied) state at their place? I've found a couple of pics on the net, but they don't really show how it grows in the wild.... If you Google on the subject, you will find several pictures. In the wild, it is apparently just a shapeless bush, so style it any way you like.
