[IBC] Request for C. Rosner's homemade scale potion
Glad to oblige, but it is not my recipe/potion.... I think it was the
USDA's recipe! Not sure! SOAP solution! I pour a solution of 1 to 2 tablespoon dishwashing detergent, 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil into a plastic gallon and slowly add water to fill the gallon jug. I fill this solution from the gallon bottle into a spray bottle and just before using I add 1 to 2 two caps full (from the rubbing alcohol bottle) of rubbing alcohol and spray immediately. If you do not use the full bottle of spray, I suggest the next time you are going to use the soap/alcohol solution add the same amount of rubbing alcohol again, since the alcohol will evaporate. I store this soap/oil solution in the gallon jug for months on end. It does not seem to go bad. Spray on plants covering all leaf and stem surfaces. You may have to spray from three to four times with intervals of three days. I have eliminated almost any kind of pest that have attacked my trees, including scale. I do not wash off the spray and have seen no adverse reaction to the trees from this mixture. Your NJBB, Carl Helena Handbasket wrote: No..... I don't want scale.... I could use that soap recipe again. [IBC] Request for C. Rosner's homemade scale potion
Nelson: I would certainly want you to test the soap/alcohol solution on
a small part on one of your fat plants first. I know for a fact that my Black Olive (Bucida Spinosa) wasn't very happy when I sprayed near it covering several lower branches.. The leaves on those branches turned beige and dropped off. :-( Of course they regrew healthy leaves, but it sure gave me a scare! :-) Carl L. But I have to ask all here if I can use this on my fat plants. Thank you for your help. Nelson Warren Far Rockaway,N.Y. [IBC] Request for C. Rosner's homemade scale potion
Hi Marty:
Funny you should say that, since that's all I use, however, a few people I had sent this recipe, wrote back that they don't have a dish washer (including me). That's why I changed it. :-) Marty: I am also send ing this to the IBC, since I think it is an important part of the formula for pests. Carl Marty Haber wrote: Hi Carl, I have one small suggestion re your spray mix: try using ordinary dish liquid soap such as Ivory (non-detergent). I have had much better results with it - less leaf burn. Marty ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carl L Rosner" To: Sent: Sunday, April 27, 2003 1:13 PM Subject: [IBC] Request for C.
