Gardenias need more zinc than most plants (except citrus). On the contrary yellow, the lack of zinc may be more prone to spend no blooming buds down. However, the lack of zinc can cause severe yellow spots on leaves. Zinc sulfate seems to be difficult to find these days, but some Ace Hardware stores, or can be ordered.
