Default Peeing in the compost

It is a well known fact that urine is a good accelerator for the compost
heap and following quadruple heart by-pass surgery, I have been using a
bottle overnight and this has been duly sprinkled on the heap.
This raises some questions from me ;
1) How does it work?

To get a good compost heap, you need a mix of carbon rich material and
some nitrogen material - I think alot of the "compost activators" are
just materials with lots of available nitrogen. Urine contains Urea which
contains Nitrogen, which can be used by the bugs etc in the heap.

2) What about the worms already in the heap?

I use urine on the compast heap and I have a wonderfull worm population.
