Sweet Alyssum spacing?

I just planted some Alyssum seeds directly into the ground. According to
the
packet, "plant spacing" is 8-10 in. Does this mean each seed should be
spaced 8-10 inches apart? Or should I just scatter them around? I felt
pretty ridiculous using toothpicks to plant these tiny, tiny little seeds.
If I were planting individual plants of Sweet Alyssum, I would space them in
that way, more or less. They'll likely be about ten inches across when mature.
However, when sowing them I scatter the seeds on the area in which I want them
to grow and then thin them out when I see how they're germinating and growing.
As you've indicated, there's no reason to try spacing the seeds; you've got
more than enough to spare, I'm sure, and they can be a bit crowded anyway, or
moved when big enough to transplant. By the way, just press the seeds into
dampened soil and barely cover them.
