I have used coffee grounds around Azaleas for their acidity and in the
compost pile, but never in Bonsai soil. I think in soil a little would go a
long way. Don't they tend to pack? And, as the original poster said they
tend to repel water if packed. If loose I think they might retain too much
moisture. In high concentrations I think they would be too acid for healthy
plant growth
