I know soil conditions can change the colour of blooms, i.e. lilacs and
lime, etc. But I did think that if you bought a pristine white rose on

own rootstock, it would remain white and not change to light pink? Am I

Depends on the variety. If it's Winchester Cathedral then sometimes it
reverts to the original rose it was a sport from... pink. Often only a petal
or two in a flower and sometimes half the flower but it's a surprise and
delight to me.
