We have moles, voles AND pocket gophers. The moles started tunneling
along our foundation one year and after a couple of heavy
thunderstorms, we had some dandy gullies along the side of the house
(the house is built into a hillside). We planted some daylilies along
the foundation and haven't had a problem with it since.
A pocket gopher got into our garden two years ago and ate all of my
carrots. :-( Of course, I couldn't blame the gopher. He migrated from
our hayfield and apparently decided carrots were better than alfalfa
roots.
Yes, they can all create problems. But I don't really mind having them
around (except when that gopher ate my carrots). It just means that we
live in the country (rural Wisconsin).
