but also to be fair folks here are generally only trying to help.
If I was on a budget and had a perfectly acceptable machine that met
all my requirements but the only problem was that it was starting to
cut out then personally I'd be looking to repair it rather than throw
it away and buy a new one.
Known problem with Briggs and Scrapem engines is the lubricate by
splash feature. No oil pump instead a cast tang on the base of the
con-rod, is intended to dip into the sump and splash oil up the bore.
Its not unknown for rough handling of a B&S powered unit to cause the
tang to break off, losing lubrication and leading to partial seizure.
If your going to spend hundreds would recommend a Honda powered unit.
