I found, that throwing moth balls around the pond, builds a barrier
that repels snakes. After a while, they will go elsewhere. You have
the smell of the mothballs, but only temporarily.

That didn't work for us. I always used mothballs in the outbuildings and
under the house to repel insects .... the snakes still went after the mice
country outbuildings and crawlspaces attract. That sulfur type snake
repellent is also useless.
